Description
RISK is a popular strategy board game that was first released in 1957, and aims to dominate the world through conquest and combat using armies. The game is played on a map of the world divided into 42 geographical regions spread across 6 continents.
Components of the game:
Game board: A world map divided into 42 territories.
Army: Made up of plastic pieces representing soldiers, tanks, and artillery.
RISK cards: Includes cards representing territories, some of which contain symbols of soldiers, tanks, and artillery.
Dice: Used for attack and defense.
Objective of the game:
The main objective is to control all the regions of the world by eliminating other players' armies, or to achieve certain goals depending on the version of the game.
How to play:
1. Preparation:
Territories are dealt to players randomly or through the distribution of cards.
Each player deploys their troops to the territories they own.
2. Distribution of armies:
At the beginning of each turn, a player gets a certain number of armies based on the number of territories he controls and the number of continents he controls entirely.
3. Attack:
A player can attack a neighboring territory owned by another player.
Dice are used to determine the outcome of the attack and defense:
The attacking player rolls up to 3 dice.
The defending player rolls up to 2 dice.
The highest dice are compared to determine the results:
If the attacker's die is higher, the defender loses a soldier.
If the defender's die is higher, the attacker loses a soldier.
4. Occupation:
If all of the defender's soldiers are removed from the territory, the territory passes to the attacker's control.
5. Redistribution (Movement of Forces):
At the end of a player's turn, he can redistribute his forces among the territories he controls.
6. Obtaining Cards:
A player gets one RISK card if he captures a territory during his turn.
The cards can be used later to summon reinforcements.
Winning conditions:
The game is won when all other players are eliminated and all territories are captured.
Some versions have specific objectives such as controlling a certain number of territories or eliminating a specific player.
Basic strategies:
Controlling continents: Capturing an entire continent grants additional boosts.
Good defense: Focus on defending border areas.
Temporary alliances: Alliances with other players can be formed temporarily.
Conservation of Forces: Avoid over-expansion without enough resources for defense.
RISK requires planning and strategy with a bit of luck, making it interesting and challenging.
