Description
The novel “The Smile’s Owner” by Yemeni writer Fikri Shahrah. The novel is a continuation of the first and second novels, especially in terms of content. As we follow through its spaces the thickened atmosphere of the Yemen war, the events of which the world has lived through over five years between the coalition policy, the corruption of legitimacy and the criminality of the Houthi movement, which allowed the writer to reveal some of the peculiarities of the political conflict related to the Yemen war and its impact on the country and people. This is demonstrated by highlighting the relationship of its characters to the national cause; Ahmad, Afra, Hafez, Shawqi, Samah, Zainab and others realize that they are victims and part of a great game whose players are great, and there is no way to confront them except with a steadfast revolutionary spirit and with more clinging to the soil of the homeland. This is what the novelist discourse shows on the general level, but on the private level, the protagonist faced alone the fate of his life by writing. He decided to write his memoirs so that Afra (the absent/present) would be between its lines.
